How to use
- Choose what the code should contain — a website link, Wi-Fi login, contact card, email, SMS, phone number, map location or calendar event — and fill in the fields.
- Pick a preset or adjust the design — colors, gradient, module and eye shapes, logo and caption. The preview updates as you type.
- Read the warnings under the preview. They flag low contrast, an oversized logo or a missing quiet zone before you print.
- Download a PNG for screens, an SVG for design software, or a PDF sized in millimetres for print.
Options explained
- Error correction
- How much of the code can be damaged or covered and still scan — L 7%, M 15%, Q 25%, H 30%. Higher levels make the code denser. Use H when you add a logo.
- Quiet zone
- The empty margin around the code, measured in modules (the small squares). The QR standard asks for 4. Scanners use it to find the code, so keep it unless the code sits on a plain background.
- Module and eye shapes
- Rounded or dotted modules and custom eyes (the three large corner squares) change the look without changing the data. Every style is checked against a real decoder in our tests.
- Logo
- Placed in the centre. "Clear modules behind logo" removes the modules under it instead of covering them, which scans more reliably. Keep the logo under about a quarter of the code width.
- PDF width
- The printed width of the code in millimetres. Solid-color designs export as vector paths that stay sharp at any size; gradients and non-Latin captions are embedded as a 600 DPI image.
What each content type does when scanned
| Type | What the phone does |
|---|---|
| URL | Offers to open the link in the browser |
| Wi-Fi | Offers to join the network without typing the password (iOS 11+ and Android 10+ camera apps) |
| Contact | Opens a “new contact” screen with the name, phone, email and address filled in (vCard 3.0) |
| Opens a new email with the address, subject and body filled in | |
| SMS | Opens a new text message to the number with the message filled in |
| Phone | Offers to call the number |
| Location | Opens the coordinates in the default maps app |
| Event | Offers to add the event to the calendar |
Examples
Guest Wi-Fi card. Choose Wi-Fi, enter the network name and password and select WPA. Print the code at 4–5 cm next to the router or on the table — guests point their camera at it and join.
Business card. Choose Contact and fill in your details. Because the whole contact card is stored in the code, it is denser than a link — print it at least 2.5 cm wide on a card.
Restaurant menu with a logo. Enter the menu link, pick the Rounded preset, upload your logo and keep error correction at H. The checker confirms the logo is small enough to scan reliably.
Frequently asked questions
Do these QR codes expire?
No. They are static QR codes — the content is stored in the pattern itself, not on a server — so they keep working forever and never redirect through us. Note that you also cannot edit a static code after printing; if you need to change the destination later, point the code at a page you control.
Can I use the QR codes commercially?
Yes. The codes you create are yours to use on packaging, menus, flyers, business cards or anywhere else, free of charge and without attribution.
How big should I print a QR code?
A common rule of thumb is that the scanning distance should be at most about ten times the code width, so a code scanned from 30 cm should be at least 3 cm wide. Dense codes need more room — the preview shows a minimum size for the current content.
Why won't my QR code scan?
The usual causes are low contrast between the code and background, light modules on a dark background, a logo that covers too much, or no empty margin around the code. The checker under the preview warns about each of these.
What is the difference between SVG and PNG?
PNG is a pixel image, good for websites, documents and messaging. SVG is a vector format that stays sharp at any size, which is what designers and printers prefer.
Is my data sent anywhere?
No. The QR code is built by JavaScript running in your browser. Wi-Fi passwords, contact details and links never leave your device.
