CSV to JSON Converter

Paste CSV exported from Excel, Google Sheets or a database and get a JSON array ready for an API or a script. The delimiter is detected automatically, quoted fields with commas or line breaks are handled, and numbers and true/false become real JSON types.

CSV → JSON
Output (JSON)

How to use

  1. Paste the CSV, or copy cells straight from a spreadsheet (they paste as tab-separated text).
  2. Keep "First row is header" on to get an array of objects; turn it off for an array of arrays.
  3. Keep "Convert numbers and booleans" on for typed values, or off to keep everything as text.
  4. Copy or download the JSON.

Options explained

Delimiter
Auto detects comma, semicolon, tab and pipe. Choose one explicitly if detection guesses wrong.
Header row
The first row's values become the keys of each object.
Typed values
"42" becomes 42 and "true" becomes true. Turn this off for IDs with leading zeros such as ZIP codes or phone numbers, which would otherwise lose them.

Example

CSV:

id,name,active
1,Ada,true
2,Grace,false

JSON:

[
  { "id": 1, "name": "Ada", "active": true },
  { "id": 2, "name": "Grace", "active": false }
]

Frequently asked questions

Can I paste directly from Excel or Google Sheets?

Yes. Copied cells are tab-separated; the delimiter is detected automatically.

Why did 00123 become 123?

With typed values on, numeric-looking text is converted to a number. Turn off "Convert numbers and booleans" to keep leading zeros.

How are empty lines handled?

Lines that are completely empty are skipped. Empty cells become null when typed values are on, or empty strings when they are off.

My file uses a semicolon and decimal commas — will it work?

The delimiter is detected, but decimal commas such as 3,5 stay text. Convert them to dots first if you need numbers.
