- Reference rates published by the European Central Bank each working day around 16:00 CET; weekends and holidays show the last working day.
- Cross rates
- The ECB publishes rates against the euro; rates between other currencies are derived from their euro rates.
How the conversion is calculated
The ECB publishes each rate as the amount of a currency that equals 1 euro. A rate between two other currencies is derived through the euro:
rate(A to B) = euro rate of B ÷ euro rate of A
result = amount × rate(A to B)
So if 1 euro buys a units of A and b units of B, then 1 unit of A is worth b ÷ a units of B.
The rate line above the result shows six significant digits. Because the ECB figures are reference rates fixed once a day, the converter is suitable for estimates, not for settling a payment at a particular price.
