How to use
- Choose a PDF. The tool lists the page sizes it contains.
- Pick the page size, and if needed a margin and orientation. Turn off enlarging if small pages should stay at their original size.
- Optionally choose where to add blank pages.
- Click Convert and download.
Options explained
- Same as each page
- Portrait pages go onto portrait paper and landscape pages onto landscape paper, so nothing is shrunk more than necessary.
- Margin
- White space kept around the content on every side, in millimetres. Useful when a printer cannot print to the edge.
- Enlarge smaller pages
- When on, small pages such as receipts or A5 are scaled up to fill the paper; when off they keep their size and are centred.
Paper sizes and what scaling does
The sizes offered, in millimetres, inches and PDF points (1 point is 1/72 inch):
| Page size | Millimetres | Inches | Points |
|---|---|---|---|
| A5 | 148 × 210 | 5.83 × 8.27 | 420 × 595 |
| A4 | 210 × 297 | 8.27 × 11.69 | 595 × 842 |
| A3 | 297 × 420 | 11.69 × 16.54 | 842 × 1191 |
| Letter | 215.9 × 279.4 | 8.5 × 11 | 612 × 792 |
| Legal | 215.9 × 355.6 | 8.5 × 14 | 612 × 1008 |
Each page is scaled by the smaller of the width ratio and the height ratio, then centred. A Letter page put onto A4 is scaled to 97.3% (210 / 215.9), which leaves about 12.6 mm of white above and below. An A5 page put onto A4 is enlarged to 141.4% with Enlarge smaller pages to fill the paper on, or kept at its size and centred with it off.
For a 7-page document, the Blank pages options add: one page at the end for One at the end if the page count is odd (8 pages), one at the end for the multiple of 4 option (8 pages), and 7 pages for After every page (14 pages).
Frequently asked questions
Will anything be cut off?
No. Each page is scaled as a whole until it fits, then centred, so the proportions never change. If the shape differs from the paper, white space appears at the top and bottom or at the sides. To remove white margins instead, use Crop PDF.
Does the text become an image?
No. The page content is only rescaled, so text stays selectable and searchable, and links and form fields still work.
Why does a page look sideways?
Some PDFs store a page as landscape and rotate it for display. The rotation is kept as it was; use Rotate PDF afterwards if a page needs turning.
Are my files uploaded?
No. Everything runs in your browser.
