Split PDF

Break a PDF into separate files — every page on its own, every N pages, or custom ranges like "1-3, 4-10". Download each part or all of them as a ZIP. The document stays on your device.

Runs in your browser — nothing you enter is uploaded

or drop a file here

How to use

  1. Choose a PDF or drag it onto the page. The page count and a thumbnail of every page are shown.
  2. Pick how to split — every page, every N pages, or custom ranges.
  3. For custom ranges, type one group per output file, separated by commas, for example "1-3, 4-6, 7-".
  4. Click Split PDF, then download the parts individually or as a ZIP.

Options explained

Every page
Creates one PDF per page, named like report-p1.pdf, report-p2.pdf.
Every N pages
Cuts the document into equal chunks, for example every 2 pages for a stack of two-page forms. The last file holds the remainder.
Custom ranges
Each comma-separated group becomes one file. "7-" runs to the last page, "last" is the final page and "9-1" reverses the order.

Examples

Scanned batch. A scanner produced one 60-page PDF of 30 two-page forms. Choose Every N pages with 2 and download 30 separate files as a ZIP.

Chapters of a book. Enter 1-12, 13-40, 41- to save the introduction, the main part and the appendix as three files.

Pull out an invoice. Enter 3 to save just the third page of a statement to forward it.

Frequently asked questions

How do I extract just one page from a PDF?

Choose Custom ranges and enter the page number, for example "5". You will get a one-page PDF.

Does splitting reduce quality?

No. Pages are copied as they are — text stays text, and images are not re-compressed.

Are my files uploaded?

No. The PDF is split by pdf-lib running in your browser, so it never leaves your device.

Why is each split file almost as large as the original?

Fonts and images shared by many pages are copied into every part that uses them. A single page with an embedded font can therefore be larger than you might expect.

Can I split a password-protected PDF?

Only after removing the password. Open it in a PDF reader with the password and save a copy without protection first.
