How to use
- Choose a PDF or drag it onto the page.
- Choose Text and type your watermark, or choose Image and pick a logo (PNG with transparency works best).
- Adjust opacity, angle, size and layout. The preview shows the first page.
- Optionally limit the watermark to some pages, then click Add watermark.
Options explained
- Opacity
- 20–40% keeps the page readable while the watermark stays clearly visible.
- Angle
- Measured counter-clockwise; 45° runs diagonally from bottom left to top right.
- Center / Tile
- Center places one watermark in the middle of each page, shrunk if needed to fit. Tile repeats it across the whole page, which makes cropping it out harder.
- Pages
- Which pages get the watermark, for example "1" or "2-". Empty means every page.
Examples
Draft for review. Text DRAFT, 30% opacity, 45°, centered.
Copy of an ID document. Text like For rental application only — 2026-09, tiled, so the copy is useless for other purposes.
Frequently asked questions
Can the watermark be removed?
The watermark is added as an image layer on top of the page. Someone with a PDF editor could delete that layer. For stronger protection, convert the watermarked PDF to images with PDF to JPG and back with JPG to PDF, so the watermark becomes part of the page image.
Why is the text watermark not selectable?
Text is drawn with your system font into a high-resolution image (288 DPI). That supports every language, including Chinese, Japanese and Arabic, and keeps the look exactly as in the preview.
Does it work on rotated or landscape pages?
Yes. The angle and position are applied to the page as displayed.
Are my files uploaded?
No. The watermark is added by pdf-lib running in your browser.
