How to use
- Type or paste a Markdown outline on the left (# headings or - lists; indentation sets the level).
- The mind map updates on the right. Click a node to fold it; scroll to zoom and drag to move.
- Click Download PNG or Download SVG to save it.
Options explained
- Getting an outline from AI
- Ask the AI to "write a mind map outline about … as a Markdown list" and paste its answer here.
- Export
- PNG is exported at 2× resolution on a white background; SVG is vector and stays sharp at any size.
How an outline becomes a tree
The map is built from the structure of the outline. This outline:
# Trip plan
## Travel
- Flights
- Book by May
- Hotel
## Budget
1. Transport
2. Food
gives Trip plan as the centre, with Travel and Budget as branches. Under Travel, Flights and Hotel are children and Book by May hangs off Flights, because the indented item sits one level deeper. Note that numbered items keep their numbers as part of the node text, so the Budget branch reads “1. Transport” and “2. Food”.
Two more things to know: if you skip a heading level (a ### straight after a #), it is placed directly under the previous heading, and if the text contains several # headings, the map gets an empty centre node with each of them as a main branch. A plain paragraph between headings does not become a node, so write each idea as a heading or list item.
Frequently asked questions
Can I change node colours or styles?
No. Colours are assigned per branch automatically. Export the SVG and edit it in a design tool for more control.
Is my content uploaded?
No. Everything happens in your browser.
How is this different from a flowchart tool?
Mind maps suit hierarchical outlines; for flowcharts and sequence diagrams use the Mermaid editor.
