- Pick the Traditional standard used in Taiwan or Hong Kong.

Options explained
- Taiwan / Hong Kong
- The two regions use slightly different standard forms for some characters, for example 裏 in Hong Kong and 裡 in Taiwan.
- Taiwan, with local phrases
- Also replaces mainland vocabulary with the words used in Taiwan, such as 软件 → 軟體 (software), 鼠标 → 滑鼠 (mouse) and 内存 → 記憶體 (memory).

Use the phrase option for marketing copy, apps and websites aimed at Taiwan; leave it off for documents where the wording must stay exactly as written.
Frequently asked questions
Why not just map each character one to one?
Several Traditional characters merged into one Simplified form. 发 is 發 in 发展 (develop) but 髮 in 头发 (hair), and 干 can be 乾, 幹 or 干. The converter uses the open-source OpenCC dictionaries, which look at whole words to pick the right character.
Is the conversion always perfect?
It is very accurate for everyday text, but no automatic converter handles every rare phrase or name. Proofread important documents, especially names and classical Chinese.
Which one should I use for Taiwan and which for Hong Kong?
Choose Taiwan for readers in Taiwan and Hong Kong for readers in Hong Kong and Macau. If you are unsure, Taiwan is the more common target.
Is my text uploaded?
No. The dictionaries are downloaded once and the conversion runs in your browser.
