How to use
- Choose an image.
- Set the border width and colour. A border of about 3% of the short side is suggested.
- Drag Corner radius to round the corners (0 keeps them square).
- Click Download PNG or Download JPG.
Options explained
- Border width
- Added on every side outside the image, so the result is wider and taller by twice this amount.
- Corner radius
- As a percentage of the short side — 50% turns a square image into a circle and the short sides of a rectangle into semicircles.
How the final size is worked out
The border is added outside the picture, so each side grows by the border width:
new width = width + 2 × border
new height = height + 2 × border
For a 1000 × 800 px photo, the suggested border of about 3% of the short side is 24 px, which gives a 1048 × 848 px image. A 40 px border gives 1080 × 880 px.
Use a wide border in a light colour when you want a mat-style frame, a thin one in a dark colour to separate a screenshot from a white page, and a border width of 0 with a corner radius when you only want rounded corners.
Frequently asked questions
Can I add only rounded corners, without a border?
Yes. Set the border width to 0 and drag Corner radius.
Why are the corners white in the JPG?
JPG doesn’t support transparency, so the corners are filled with the background colour. Download PNG to keep them transparent.
