How to use
- Choose, drop or paste two or more images.
- Put them in order with the arrow buttons and remove any you do not need.
- Set the frame delay, width, colours and background.
- Create the GIF, check the preview and download it.
Options explained
- Frame delay
- How long each image stays on screen. 500 ms shows two images per second; 100 ms or less gives smooth motion.
- Size
- The GIF takes the shape of the first image. Other images are scaled to fit and centred, with the background colour around them.
- Colours
- Up to 256 colours per frame. Screenshots and flat graphics still look sharp with 64 or 128.
Size and timing
The GIF is as wide as the width you choose, but never wider than the first image, and the height follows the first image’s proportions. Both sizes are rounded down to even numbers. For example, a first image of 4032 × 3024 pixels at a width of 480 gives 480 × 360. The width choices are 240, 320, 480, 640 and 800 pixels, or the original size.
The frame delay is stored in hundredths of a second, and the tool never goes below 20 ms, because most browsers play shorter delays as 100 ms. The total length is the number of frames times the delay, and the frame rate is 1000 divided by the delay.
| Delay | Frames per second | 10 frames last |
|---|---|---|
| 100 ms | 10 | 1 s |
| 200 ms | 5 | 2 s |
| 500 ms | 2 | 5 s |
| 1000 ms | 1 | 10 s |
Frequently asked questions
How many images can I add?
There is no fixed limit, but every frame adds to the file size and memory use. A few dozen frames work well.
Can I use different delays for different frames?
Not yet; all frames use the same delay. You can repeat an image to make it stay longer.
Does it support transparency?
No. Transparent areas are filled with the background colour you choose.
