How to use
- Add your image — a phone photo, a scan or a screenshot.
- The target is already 100 KB. Enter another number if your form has a different limit.
- If the result says it cannot reach the target, tick Resize and lower the maximum width (for example to 1200 px), then compress again.
- Download the result and upload it to the form.
Options explained
- Target size
- The tool tries up to eight quality levels and keeps the highest one whose file is under the limit, so you get the best-looking image that is accepted.
- Output format
- JPG is the safest choice for forms. Switch to WebP only if the site accepts it — it reaches the same size with better quality.
- Resize
- A 12-megapixel photo rarely fits in 100 KB at acceptable quality. Resizing to 1000–1500 px wide makes it easy.
Tips
- Limits differ between forms, so enter the exact number from the upload page. The tool meets any size you enter once the image is resized enough.
- If the form also specifies pixel dimensions, crop to that aspect ratio in your photo app first, then compress here.
- US visa (DS-160) photos must be 240 KB or less — set the target to 240.
Frequently asked questions
How do I get a photo under 100 KB without it looking blurry?
Reduce the dimensions first. Forms display photos small anyway, and a 1200 px-wide JPG at 100 KB looks far sharper than a 4000 px one squeezed to the same size.
The form says KB — is that 1000 or 1024 bytes?
This tool counts 1 KB as 1024 bytes, which is the stricter reading, so the file will pass either way.
My form also requires exact pixel dimensions. Can this help?
Use Resize to set the maximum width and height. For an exact crop to a fixed size, crop the image first in your photo app.
Is my ID photo uploaded anywhere?
No. Compression runs in your browser; the image stays on your device.
