How to use
- Add one or more JPG files by choosing, dragging or pasting them.
- PNG is selected as the output format. Optionally resize.
- Download each PNG, or all of them as a ZIP.
Options explained
- Lossless output
- PNG stores the decoded pixels exactly, so nothing further is lost. Quality settings do not apply.
- Optimisation
- Files are compressed with OxiPNG to the smallest size possible without changing any pixel.
- Resize
- Scaling down before converting keeps PNG files from getting too large.
When PNG is the right choice
- Uploading to a service that only accepts PNG, such as some app stores or print templates.
- Editing an image in several rounds — every JPG save adds a bit more loss, PNG does not.
- Images with text, lines or flat colours that you want to keep crisp from now on.
Frequently asked questions
Will converting JPG to PNG improve quality?
No. The JPG compression artefacts are already in the image; PNG preserves them exactly. The benefit is that further edits and saves do not add new loss.
Why is the PNG bigger than the JPG?
PNG is lossless, and photos contain lots of fine detail that lossless compression cannot shrink much. A PNG of a photo is often 3–10 times the size of the JPG.
Does it make the background transparent?
No. JPG has no transparency, so the PNG has the same opaque background. Removing a background requires a separate tool.
Is there a limit on the number of files?
No fixed limit. Files are processed one after another (two at a time on multi-core devices) in your browser.
