Crop Image to Circle

Make a round profile picture for social media, a team page or a chat app. Drag the photo to choose what stays inside the circle, zoom in, optionally add a coloured ring, and download a PNG with transparent corners — or a JPG on a background colour. A rounded square shape is included for app-style icons.

How to use

  1. Choose a photo.
  2. Drag the preview to move the photo and use Zoom to frame the face or logo.
  3. Pick Circle, Rounded square or Square, set the output size and, if you like, a border.
  4. Click Download PNG (transparent corners) or Download JPG.

Options explained

Output size
The width and height of the square result in pixels. 512 px is plenty for most profile pictures; use more for print.
Border width
A ring drawn just inside the edge of the shape, so the image size doesn’t change.

Examples

Profile picture. Choose Circle, drag the photo so your face is centred and zoom in until the head and shoulders fill the circle. Download as PNG at 512 px or more — most sites accept a square image and display it as a circle themselves, so a larger upload stays sharp on high-resolution screens.

Team page on a website. Crop every portrait with the same zoom and output size, add a thin white or brand-colour border, and download PNG so the corners stay transparent on any background colour.

App icon or logo badge. Choose Rounded square and set the corner radius to around 20–25% for the soft-square shape used by phone app icons.

Document or slide photo. Choose JPG and turn on the background fill in white when the file has to go into Word or PowerPoint without transparency.

Frequently asked questions

Why does my profile picture still look square after uploading?

Most sites crop pictures into a circle themselves and ignore transparency. The round PNG helps where the image is shown as is — documents, slides, websites and email signatures.

Can I crop a rectangle instead?

Use Crop Image for free-form and fixed-ratio rectangles.

Are my photos uploaded?

No. Everything happens in your browser.
