PNG to SVG Converter

Turn a PNG or JPG logo, icon, drawing or signature into a scalable SVG. The tool traces the image into vector shapes; pick colour or black and white, the number of colours and how much detail to keep, compare it with the original and download the SVG or copy its code.

60
8 px

Works best for logos, icons, drawings and scanned signatures with flat colours. Photos turn into a posterised look. Tracing runs in your browser with ImageTracer (public domain); the image is not uploaded.

How to use

  1. Choose or drop a PNG, JPG, WebP or GIF image.
  2. Pick Colour or Black and white, and for colour how many colours to use.
  3. Adjust Detail and Remove specks smaller than until the SVG looks right.
  4. Click Download SVG, or Copy SVG code.

Options explained

Colours
Each colour becomes one layer of shapes. Logos usually need 2–8; more colours keep shading but make a bigger file.
Detail
Higher follows the original outline more closely; lower gives smoother, simpler curves and a smaller file.
Remove specks smaller than
Drops tiny shapes caused by noise or JPEG artefacts.

Settings for common images

Image Mode Colours Detail Remove specks smaller than
Two-colour logo or icon Colour 2–4 Default (60) Default (8 px)
Logo with gradients or shading Colour 8–16 60–80 4–8 px
Scanned signature or handwriting Black and white — 60–80 8–16 px, to drop paper texture
Line drawing or clip art Black and white, or Colour with 4–8 — 70–90 4–8 px
Photo Colour 16–32 40–60 16 px or more — expect a poster-like result

Images larger than 1000 px on the longest side are reduced to 1000 px before tracing, which keeps it fast; the SVG can then be scaled to any size without losing sharpness.

Why convert to SVG

Print and signage. An SVG logo prints sharply on a business card or a banner, because it is made of shapes rather than pixels.

Websites and apps. A small SVG icon stays crisp on high-resolution screens and can be recoloured with CSS.

Cutting machines. Cricut, Silhouette and laser cutters follow vector paths — a traced black-and-white design can be imported directly.

Frequently asked questions

Does it work for photos?

It runs, but the result looks like a poster with flat colour areas. Vectorizing suits logos, icons, line art and text.

Why is the file large?

Many colours, high detail or a noisy image create thousands of shapes. Lower the colours or detail, or raise the speck size.

Is my image uploaded?

No. It is traced in your browser.
